Blue Cross Blue Shield is the largest individual health carrier in the state of Texas, and JME Insurance has been a general agent for BCBS for a number of years.
Through its weekly “News from the Blues” newsletter, Blue Cross keeps agents informed about important changes in the market and to their products. We also try to pass on important updates to our brokers via email and through our broker webinars.
Below are just a few of the reasons you should consider working with JME. If you have questions or would like additional information, please give us a call at 972.245.0266 or email us at info@jmeinsurance.com.

RECORDED TRAINING FOR INDIVIDUAL AGENTS
If you sell Individual and Family products, you might be interested in some of our pre-recorded training sessions. The following courses are one hour each and were originally taught as continuing education courses through ComedyCE.com. While you cannot receive CE credit for watching the recordings, you may still find the information beneficial. This training is available at no charge to agents who work with JME Insurance Agency.
Not All Surprises Are Good
Everybody likes surprises, right? Wrong! In this class, we’ll discuss the No Surprises Act, a new law that could eliminated one type of bad surprises: surprise medical bills.
HSAs: the Basics
In this “Basics” course, we explain what an HSA is and why it could be a good option for your clients, discuss some of the eligibility and contribution rules, and, of course, review the list of eligible expenses. This is a good course for newer agents who are unfamiliar with Health Savings Accounts and a nice refresher for veteran agents.
HSAs: the Advanced Course
This course picks up where the “basics” course leaves off. In this advanced HSA course, we examine some of the more complicated questions brokers get from their clients about Health Savings Accounts, including what counts as “other coverage” that would disqualify someone from eligibility, the contribution rules when someone has partial-year coverage, and some of the “gray areas” that cause brokers to say “ask your tax advisor.”
ICHRAs and QSEHRAs – Same, but Different
In this class, we discuss two options employers have to pay for individual health coverage for their employees. QSEHRAs allow non-applicable large employers that don’t offer a group health plan to pay for individual health coverage and out-of-pocket expenses. ICHRAs allow employers of all sizes to pay for individual health coverage for one or more classes of employees. These groups can offer group health coverage, just not to the class(es) of employers who are offered individual coverage reimbursement. While there are a lot of similarities between the two special types of HRAs, there are also some differences, so each one is a fit for different groups. And for agents who would like to sell individual policies in bulk, understanding these two options is essential.
Let’s Learn about ICHRAs
ICHRAs give employers of all sizes a legal way to pay for individual health insurance plans for their employees. But, even though they’ve been available for a few years now, most brokers still don’t know all the details and certainly haven’t implemented one yet. In this course, we’re joined by Basil Vetas with Leeway, Inc. Leeway is an ICHRA administrator, and Basil helps us learn the basis of ICHRAs and provide answers to a number of Frequently Asked Questions. The course should prepere brokers to explore the various ICHRA platforms available to their clients and ask the right questions when interviewing prospective administrators.
Travel Medical Insurance
Most US health plans provide worldwide emergency coverage, but actually using our health plan when we’re outside the country isn’t very easy – usually, we have to pay the full amount and file for reimbursement when we return home, but the review process can take a long time, and we’re still out a lot of money. Fortunatly, there is a better option – travel medical insurance. In this class, we’ll discuss this important coverage and explain why you may want to offer it to your clients. JME is a general agent for GeoBlue, and we can help get you appointed and trained to sell travel medical insurance coverage.
