We’re excited to pass along two big announcements from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) concerning the provider networks on its HMO and PPO plans. You may receive communication directly from BCBSTX as well.

Agreement Reached with Texas Health Resources

First, an announcement that will affect all BCBSTX members: Through determined efforts from both sides, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and Texas Health Resources have agreed on new multi-year contracts that ensure all Texas Health Resources health care professionals and facilities will remain in the BCBSTX provider networks with no disruption in service. This is really good news as the two sides had been in negotiations for weeks and the contract period was coming to an end. The new agreement will keep THR in the BCBSTX provider network for at least the next four years, so as a member you will continue to have access to THR doctors and hospitals.

Agreement with Baylor Scott & White

Now for some good news for BCBSTX HMO members: BCBSTX has also reached an agreement with Baylor Scott & White to give North Texas HMO members in-network access to BSW facilities and physicians! This is actually great news because it adds more than 4,000 Baylor Scott & White Health doctors and other health care professionals to the HMO provider network. Baylor Scott & White doctors and hospitals are already included in the PPO network.

Here’s the announcement from BCBSTX about the Baylor Scott & White agreement:

We are excited to announce Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and Baylor Scott & White Health (Baylor Scott & White) reached an agreement that will ensure members with Blue Advantage HMOSM (BAV) health plans have in-network access to Baylor Scott & White employed doctors and facilities as of April 1, 2018.

Our cherished relationship with Baylor Scott & White goes back to the 1930s. We are pleased we can continue to work with such a great health system and provide our retail and small group members access to its high-quality care. Baylor Scott & White was one of the first organizations in the country to see the need for affordable health care. Its participation in our BAV network demonstrates its commitment to serve our north and central Texas communities.

Members with questions can use our Provider Finder® tool to get up-to-date listings of in-network providers. They can also contact Customer Service at the number on their member ID card.

If you have any questions about either of these developments, please let us know.
