Each year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) prepares a detailed handbook to answer your Medicare-related questions, and the 2018 version is now available.

Use this handbook as a resource to help you:

  1. Get the care you need when you need it — Medicare pays for many preventive services to keep you healthy. Use this guidebook to learn about the preventive services that are available to you and understand the services you might need.
  2. Understand your benefits and bills — Read through this overview of your Medicare benefits and choices, and look for the helpful contacts if you still need help.
  3. Find tools to make decisions for a healthier life — One of these tools is Medicare’s Blue Button. The Blue Button can help you make informed decisions about your care and can give your health care providers a more complete view of your health history. See page 120 to learn more.

If you have specific questions, you can visit Medicare.gov to find the answers you need. You also can call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048. You may also find the JME website beneficial. We’ve tried to answer a lot of the more commonly asked questions on our site. And, as always, your agent at JME is always happy to help.
