BlueCompare for Hospitals Updated

In January, 2009, Provider Finder will be updated with BlueCompare ribbons and scales for our

contracted general acute care hospitals. For the 2009 updates, BCBSTX sought feedback from

hospitals, hospital systems, and the Texas Hospital Association, incorporating appropriate

recommendations.

The following changes were incorporated into the 2009 Hospital BlueCompare.

• Recognition for voluntary participation in the following programs was added for 2009:
• The Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) 5 Million Lives Campaign,Texas Nurses Association’s (TNA) Pathway to Excellence OR American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Program

  BCBSTX also awarded bonus points for participating in IHI’s campaign as a mentor hospital and for being designated as a Blue Distinction center.
